The Legend
Bettye Odom.
In 1978, Bettye Odom did something quietly revolutionary: she introduced total skin care to Chicago's African American community, founding Bettye O Day Spa in Hyde Park at a time when Black women had few spaces dedicated to their beauty, wellness, and self-care.
Her journey began with deep study,including training in Paris,and was shaped by a life lived at full breadth. Bettye was a registered nurse, a trained actress and model, and an NBC talk show host who brought Sunday in Chicago to local television from 1969 to 1974. She was an entrepreneur, an author, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, an Army 1st Lieutenant, and a graduate of both Fisk University and Meharry Medical College. Above all, she was a mother.
For nearly five decades, she built this spa into a community cornerstone,a place where every client was seen, celebrated, and cared for. Her legacy lives on through the team she trained, the clients she served, and the daughter she raised.

Today, Bettye's daughter Lorrie Odom carries the legacy forward,honoring her mother's vision while welcoming a new generation of guests into this historic space.

Appointments
We prefer appointments, they help us prepare and ensure your preferred time is reserved. That said, walk-ins are always welcome based on availability. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete intake forms and settle into our Serenity Room — this is your time, and we want you to enjoy every minute of it.

Late Arrivals
We completely understand that life happens. Out of respect for the guests scheduled after you, services will end at their originally scheduled time regardless of when you arrive. Your full service rate still applies. Arriving a few minutes early is the best way to make sure you get everything you came for.

Cancellations
We require 24 hours advance notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 8 hours notice will incur a 50% service charge. We understand life happens,please reach out as soon as possible.

No-Shows
Guests who do not show up for a scheduled appointment without prior notice will forfeit their deposit, no refunds. This policy allows us to honor our team's time and serve our waitlisted guests.

Gratuity is not included in service prices. We recommend 15–20% as a token of appreciation for your service provider. Our team works hard to ensure your experience is exceptional.

Guests 16 and older are welcome to book and visit on their own — no forms, no fuss. Younger guests are absolutely welcome too, they just need a parent or guardian present for the entire visit.

We accept all major credit cards, debit cards, and cash. Please note that credit card transactions include a 3% processing fee. Cash payments are always welcome and help avoid the fee entirely.

If you have a gift certificate or purchased package and would like to swap any included service for a different one, just call us before your appointment and we will take care of it. We are available Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at (773) 752-3600.
If the service you want costs more, you pay the difference at the time of booking. If it costs less, the difference is added to your account as a spa credit you can use toward anything at any time.
All gift certificates and package purchases are final and non-refundable. Spa credits never expire.
